For the past few weeks we have been working on Morgan being potty trained. I guess she was ready because she didn't want to wear diapers anymore, but mom wasn't because you know at first it's the parents being trained to keep setting your child on the toilet or a least that's how it was in my case. She has done really good for the past three days no accidents and I have been able to take her places as long as there is a restroom around. Shes now to the point where she tells me that she has to go to the potty. That was a little difficult at first for Morgan to tell me that she needs to go before she would go in her underwear. She would say "I have to go potty and I would say "OK lets go" and she would have already peed in her underwear. Yes, I was frustrated in my mind, but I never got mad at her because I didn't want to discourage her and really is not something to be mad or frustrated about! I think I was frustrated because she was capable of going on the toilet just fine and she didn't.
We also about a month ago put her in a big girl bed, but to her it's not a big girl bed it's a toddler bed. I wanted to do the big girl bed first then few months later potty train Morgan before the baby came, but things became opposite. The first night she slept fine in the bed then the next couple of weeks she didn't want anything to do with it and at the same time she would ripe off the the diapers and so on. Then a few weeks ago I changed her room around and told her that the crib is for the baby and this is Morgan's bed. I think she got it in her head and we haven't had a problem since.
Morgan has been fighting me for naps the past couple of months and I am not ready to give up naps yet. I was really fearing that she would really give them up once I put her in the toddler bed because she would be able to get out of her bed. Once I changed the bedroom around and she realized that it is her personal space. She has done a lot better. She has started to not take naps everyday, but at least she will sit in her bed and read books for a little bit. Again it's me that needs to adjust to the change because she has always been such a good sleeper for me and everyday since she has been down to one nap. I have been able to do what I want for 2 to 3 hrs a day while she naps. Now I just need to find different things to do for the days that she doesn't take naps. I know she not completely ready to give up the whole nap thing because the way she acts around 4 or 5 o' clock sometimes that time of day is not fun for me.
I keep looking at Morgan everyday and thinking oh my she is growing up so fast!! The things that she says to Chris and I, the big girl bed, potty training, she tells me that she needs to call someone on the phone. She has fake conversations with people on the phone. I always love listening to her because apparently maybe that's how I sound on the phone.
It is all going way to fast. Morgan tells me she wants to go to school with a pack pack(backpack). I tell her that I would love to send her to school, but she is too little next year.
Yesterday, I had one of my every 4 weeks Dr. appts for the baby and I wanted to take Morgan so she could hear the baby's heartbeat. I was going to wait a little bit longer until I took her, but I'm glad I did because at my Dr. office there were signs everywhere that says starting October 12th because of the H1N1 flu no children will be allowed in the dr's offices and they will make you reschedule your appt until you can get child care. When we were done she wanted to call Grandma Meier, Lisa my sister and dad to tell them that she heard the heartbeat. She was so excited! I was a little nervous of taking her to my appt because of what happen when I took her to my annual check up when Morgan was 13 months old that's another story for a different time. Lets just say that she is really nervous at Dr's offices, but she did really good and just sat there in the chair while the Dr. measure me.
I hope that has summed up the last month or two of what we have been up too

You definately have more patience then me hands down with the whole potty training thing. Way to go Morgan. Isn't it interesting how just rearranging a room makes all the difference..... I am glad she is doing better with her bed.
And how cute that she wanted to call everyone after she heard the heartbeat. Isaac was pretty oblivious as to what was going on with me when I was pregnant.
Wow, she is growing up fast. If you ever need a sitter for your appt. give me a call.
Melissa- she is such a little lady-that's awesome that she is potty trained- you'll be so thankful when the next baby comes. One thing that I did for a long time was to carry a little portable training potty in my trunk with some toliet paper and plastic zip lock bags and wet wipes- this was so helpful when we weren't near bathrooms.
So Jocelyn had started taking a nap again randomly so she might rebel for awhile but she might go back to it. You'll be so glad that you potty trained her before the baby comes. Buying two or three sets of diapers is not cheap.
